Þingmaðurinn Bergþór Ólason og aðrir fluttu tillögu um að breyta lögum um ráðstöfun útvarpsgjalds þannig að greiðendur geti ráðstafað allt að þriðjungi gjaldsins til annarra fjölmiðla en Ríkisútvarpsins. Tillagan hefur að markmiði að brjóta einokunarstöðu Ríkisútvarpsins og auka fjölbreytileika í fjölmiðlalandslagi landsins.
MP Bergþór Ólason and others proposed changes to broadcasting fee laws allowing taxpayers to allocate up to one-third of their broadcasting fee to media outlets other than the National Broadcasting Service (RÚV). The proposal aims to break RÚV's monopoly position and increase diversity in Iceland's media landscape.
