Þessi þingsályktunartillaga felst í því að stofna starfshóp til að fara yfir lög og reglur um fiskeldið og hvernig það er skattlagt. Tillagan var lögð fram vegna þess að fiskeldið er að verða mjög stór atvinnugrein með útflutningsverðmæti sem gæti náð 65 milljörðum króna, en sveitarfélögin sem hýsa þessa starfsemi bera stóran hluta kostnaðar við innviði og þjónustu án þess að hafa klár heimildir til að taka gjöld fyrir það. Ef tillagan nær fram að ganga myndu sveitarfélögin fá skýrari rétt til að taka gjöld af fiskeldinu og væru þessi gjöld notuð til að byggja upp og viðhalda hafnum, skólum og annarri nauðsynlegri þjónustu á þeim svæðum.
This parliamentary resolution proposes to create a working group to review the laws and regulations governing fish farming and how it is taxed. The resolution was put forward because fish farming is becoming a very large industry with export values that could reach 65 billion kroner, yet the municipalities hosting this activity bear much of the cost for infrastructure and services without clear authority to charge fees for it. If the resolution passes, municipalities would get clearer rights to collect fees from fish farming, and these fees would be used to build and maintain harbors, schools, and other necessary services in those areas.
