Þessi þingsályktunartillaga felur í sér að ríkisstjórn Íslands á að efla samstarf við Grænland á sviðum þar sem hagsmunir landanna fara saman, eins og til dæmis í sjávarútvegi, ferðaþjónustu og flugsamgöngum. Tillagan var lögð fram vegna þess að utanríkisráðuneytið skipaði nefnd árið 2019 til að kanna möguleika á auknu samstarfi, og sú nefnd skilaði yfir 99 tillögum um hvernig Ísland og Grænland gætu unnið betur saman. Ef tillagan nær fram að ganga myndu Ísland og Grænland gera formlega samninga um samstarf og myndu stjórnvöld, fyrirtæki og félagasamtök beggja landa hefja samvinnu í fleiri geirum en nú er gert.
This parliamentary resolution proposes that the Icelandic government should strengthen cooperation with Greenland in areas where both countries share common interests, such as fishing, tourism, and air transport. The proposal was put forward because Iceland's foreign ministry appointed a committee in 2019 to explore opportunities for increased cooperation, and that committee delivered over 99 recommendations on how Iceland and Greenland could work better together. If the resolution passes, Iceland and Greenland would create formal agreements for cooperation, and governments, businesses, and organizations from both countries would begin collaborating in more sectors than they currently do.
