Frumvarpið leggur til að í þjóðskrá verði skráð sveitarfélag fyrsta lögheimilis barns auk fæðingarstaðar, til að endurspegla betur uppruna barna sem fæðast utan heimabyggðar vegna takmarkaðrar fæðingarþjónustu. Þetta hefur áhrif á skráningu allra barna sem fæðast á Íslandi og sveitarfélögin sem þau tilheyra.
The bill proposes to register in the national registry the municipality of a child's first legal residence in addition to their place of birth, to better reflect the origin of children born outside their home community due to limited birthing services. This affects the registration of all children born in Iceland and the municipalities they belong to.
