Umhverfisráðherra myndi einnig gera áætlun um hvernig betur væri hægt að stjórna þessum fuglistofnum án þess að skaða þá of mikið.
This parliamentary resolution proposes allowing farmers to hunt swans, greylag geese, pink-footed geese, and white-fronted geese outside the normal hunting season if these birds cause significant damage to pastures and grain fields. The resolution was put forward because populations of these birds have grown dramatically and are destroying harvests. There are now around 34,000 swans and up to 500,000 pink-footed geese in Iceland, far more than decades ago. If passed, farmers would be able to hunt these birds from March to June on their land, with swans allowed even longer from May to October. The environment minister would also create a management plan for how to better control these bird populations while protecting them from excessive harm.
