Þessi þingsályktunartillaga biður Alþingi um leyfi til að samþykkja nýjar reglur Evrópusambandsins um lífræna framleiðslu og merkingu lífrænt ræktaðra vara. Tillagan var lögð fram vegna þess að Ísland þarf að fylgja nýjum ESB-reglum sem tóku gildi árið 2022 og eru hluti af EES-samningnum sem Ísland er aðili að. Ef tillagan fer fram myndu gömlu reglurnar um lífræna framleiðslu hér á landi hverfast og nýju reglurnar myndu taka gildi. Það er mikilvægt að þessar breytingar gangi fljótt í gegn vegna þess að seinkun gæti valdið vandamálum fyrir innflutning og útflutning á mat og dýrafóðri til og frá Íslandi.
This parliamentary resolution asks Parliament for permission to approve new European Union regulations on organic production and labeling of organic products. The resolution was put forward because Iceland needs to follow new EU rules that came into effect in 2022 and are part of the EEA Agreement that Iceland is party to. If the resolution passes, the old rules about organic production in Iceland would be replaced with the new ones. It is important that these changes happen quickly because delays could cause problems for imports and exports of food and animal feed to and from Iceland.
