Þessi þingsályktunartillaga felur í sér áskorun til ríkisstjórnar um að banna vistmorð, sem þýðir umhverfisspjöll sem menn valda vitandi af sér. Tillagan var lögð fram vegna þess að loftslagsbreytingar og eyðing náttúru hafa orðið sívaxandi vandamál og fólk þarf lagalega leið til að berjast gegn því. This parliamentary resolution proposes that the government ban 'ecocide,' which refers to environmental destruction caused intentionally by humans. The proposal was put forward because climate change and destruction of nature have become growing problems, and people need legal tools to fight against them. If the resolution passes, two important things would happen: first, Iceland would propose to the International Criminal Court that ecocide be recognized as a serious international crime, and second, new laws would be passed in Iceland that directly ban ecocide. This would make it possible for individuals and organizations to defend nature's rights in court.
