Erna Bjarnadóttur spyr fjármála- og efnahagsráðherra hvort Ísland sé skuldbundið samkvæmt alþjóðlegum viðskiptasamningum (GATT) til að birta opinberlega öll álit sem tollstjórinn gefur um flokkunar tolla á vörum. Hún bendir á að Alþjóðaviðskiptastofnunin (WTO) kritisaði Ísland árið 2017 fyrir að ekki birta þessi álit og spyr hvers vegna það var ekki gert og hvort það væru áætlanir um að ráða bót á því. Þetta skiptir máli vegna þess að gagnsæi í tollaflokkun getur hjálpað fyrirtækjum og kaupendum að vita rétta skatta og reglur, og alþjóðlegar samningar krefjast oft opinberrar birtingar slíkra ákvarðana. Svar ráðherra myndu segja okkur hvort Ísland brjóti á alþjóðlegum skuldbindingum og hvort stjórnvöld ætli að gera tollaflokkun fyrirtækja og almennings aðgengilegri.
Erna Bjarnadóttur asks the Finance Minister whether Iceland is obligated under international trade agreements (GATT) to publicly release all opinions issued by the tax authority on tariff classifications of goods. She points out that the World Trade Organization (WTO) criticized Iceland in 2017 for not publishing these opinions and asks why this wasn't done and whether there are plans to correct it. This matters because transparency in tariff classification helps businesses and consumers understand applicable taxes and rules, and international agreements often require such decisions to be publicly disclosed. The Minister's answers would reveal whether Iceland is breaching international obligations and whether the government intends to make tariff rulings more accessible to businesses and the public.
