This parliamentary resolution proposes that the government build one thousand affordable rental homes each year in cooperation with non-profit housing organizations. The resolution was put forward because housing prices have become too high for ordinary people, and too many are struggling to find decent housing—around 50,000 people now face housing difficulties compared to only 25,000 in 2005. If passed, the resolution would allow more low and middle-income people to afford homes throughout the country and would help prevent rapid housing price increases. The government would need to roughly double its current budget for housing construction to achieve this goal.
