Í fyrirspurnarstíma var rætt um frumvarp sem breytir starfslokaaldri ríkisstarfsmanna frá 70 árum til 73 ára. Tillagan byggist á því að Íslendingar lifa lengur og eru heilbrigðari en áður, og að reynsla eldri starfsmanna er mikils virði fyrir ríkiskerfið. Með breytingunni væru starfsmenn ekki neðir að segja sér frá störfum við 70 ára aldur, en gætu valið að starfa lengur ef þeir vildu.
During question time, a bill was discussed that would change the retirement age for civil servants from 70 to 73 years old. The proposal is based on the fact that Icelanders now live longer and are healthier than before, and that the experience of older employees is valuable to the state system. Under this change, employees would not be forced to retire at age 70, but could choose to continue working longer if they wished.
