Guðmundur Ingi Kristinsson og fleira þingmenn lögðu fram frumvarp um breytingar á lögum um almannatryggingar til að minnka kvaðir á fólk sem sækir um bætur. Frumvarpið felur í sér að ekki þarf lengur að krefjast upplýsinga frá maka umsækjanda og að fólk beri ekki ábyrgð á upplýsingum sem maki þess veitir ekki. Flutningsnemir telja að núverandi reglur skerði persónuvernd og ganga gegn rétti fólks til aðstoðar og sjálfræðis.
Guðmundur Ingi Kristinsson and other parliamentarians introduced a bill to amend social security laws and reduce burdens on people applying for benefits. The bill proposes that information from a spouse is no longer required and that applicants should not be held responsible for information their spouse fails to provide. The sponsors believe current rules violate privacy and go against people's rights to support and autonomy.
