Þessi þingsályktunartillaga leggur til að skipa sérstaka rannsóknarnefnd sem rannsaka á hvað gerðist þegar snjóflóð féll í Súðavík og drap 14 manns árið 1995. Tillagan var lögð fram vegna þess að aðstandendur látinna og eftirlifandi ættingjar þeirra báðu um óhlutdræga rannsókn á því hvernig stjórnvöld störfuðu fyrir, við og eftir flóðið. Óánægðir eru því að engin rétt rannsókn fór fram á sínum tíma og vilja vita hvort stjórnvöld gætu gert meira til að koma í veg fyrir þennan slys. Ef tillagan nær fram að ganga myndu þrír sérfræðingar rannsaka hvernig stjórnvöld tóku ákvarðanir um flóðavarnir, hvernig þeir undirbugðu fólkið fyrir hættu og hvað gerðu eftir á. Rannsóknin á að vera tilbúin á einu ári og myndi geta hjálpað til við að treysta aftur á stjórnvöld og koma til móts við sorg og spurningar fjölskyldnanna.
