Þessi þingsályktunartillaga leggur til að Útlendingastofnun verði lögð niður og öll störf hennar færð til Þjóðskrár Íslands. Ástæðan fyrir tillögunni er sú að nú eru málefni útlendinga skipt á milli tveggja stofnana - Útlendingastofnunar og Þjóðskrár - sem talið er óskilvirkir og dýrt. Flutningsmenn tillögunnar segja að þessi tvískipting valdi því að útlendingar verða að leita sér þjónustu hjá mismunandi stofnunum eftir því hvar þeir koma frá. Ef tillagan nær fram myndu allir útlendingar sem koma til Íslands geta leitað þjónustu við sama stað og myndu fyrirgreiðslur einfalda og stjórnsýslan verða hagkvæmari. Verkefninu á að vera lokið fyrir september 2025 og nýja kerfi myndi taka gildi 1. janúar 2026.
