Þessi þingsályktunartillaga biður Alþingi um leyfi fyrir ríkisstjórnina til að staðfesta viðskiptasamning milli Íslands og annarra EFTA-ríkja við Moldóvu sem var undirritaður árið 2023. Samningurinn var gerður til að styrkja viðskipti og tengsl við Moldóvu og til að styðja landið í því að tengjast Vesturlöndum. Ef tillagan fer í gegn myndu tollar á íslenska sjávarafurði og aðrar vörur sem við flytjum til Moldóvu hverfur, og sama gildir um sumar vörur sem við flytjum inn. Þetta myndi auðvelda viðskipti og væntanlega gera það auðveldara fyrir íslenska fyrirtæki að selja til Moldóvu.
This parliamentary resolution asks the Icelandic Parliament to permit the government to ratify a trade agreement between Iceland and other EFTA countries with Moldova that was signed in 2023. The agreement was made to strengthen trade and relations with Moldova and to support the country in connecting with the West. If the proposal passes, tariffs on Icelandic seafood and other goods we export to Moldova would be eliminated, and the same applies to some goods we import. This would make trade easier and would likely make it simpler for Icelandic companies to sell to Moldova.
