Þessi þingsályktunartillaga felur í sér að ríkisstjórn skal gera áætlun um það hvernig varðveita megi gamla handverksþekkingu á Íslandi, eins og torfhúsagerð og báta- og skipasmiði. Tillagan var lögð fram vegna þess að þessi sérhæfðu kunnátta er á meðal örfárra einstaklinga og hætt er við að hún glatist með tímanum, þó að um 13.000 friðuð hús og mörg forngreini séu á landinu. Ef tillagan nær fram að ganga myndu menntaráðherra og aðrir ráðherrar verða að koma með verkefni og menntun sem myndu tryggja að íslensku handverksfólkið deili þekkingu sinni og að gamlir húsir og mannvirkir verði viðhaldnir rétt.
This parliamentary resolution proposes that the government create a plan to preserve traditional Icelandic crafts, such as turf house building and wooden boat and ship construction. The resolution was introduced because this specialized knowledge rests with very few people and risks being lost over time, despite about 13,000 protected houses and many artifacts existing in the country. If passed, the minister of education and other officials would need to develop projects and education programs that ensure Icelandic craftspeople share their knowledge and that old houses and structures are properly maintained.
