Þessi þingsályktunartillaga fjallar um að byggja nýja vega sem heitir Sundabraut, með brú á milli Kleppsvíkur og Gufuness sem myndi tengja Reykjavík við Vesturland. Tillagan var lögð fram vegna þess að samgöngur til og frá höfuðborgarsvæðinu eru mikilvægar fyrir efnahaginn og daglegt líf fólks á landsbyggðinni og í nærliggjandi bæjum. Ef Sundabraut væri byggð myndu ferðatímar styttast til muna, minna umferð myndi þurfa að nota eldri vegi, og það myndu spara tíma fyrir tugir þúsunda manna sem ferðast daglega. Vegagerðin telur að þetta væru arðbær framkvæmd sem myndi einnig minnka mengun og tryggja betri flóttaleið frá höfuðborginni ef hamfarir gerðust.
This parliamentary resolution proposes building a new road called Sundabraut with a bridge between Kleppsvík and Gufuness that would connect Reykjavik to the West. The proposal was put forward because good transportation to and from the capital area is important for the economy and daily life of people in rural areas and nearby towns. If Sundabraut were built, travel times would be significantly shortened, less traffic would need to use older roads, and it would save time for tens of thousands of people who commute daily. The Road Administration considers this a profitable project that would also reduce pollution and provide a better evacuation route from the capital in case of emergencies.
