Þessi þingsályktunartillaga felur í sér að fjármála- og efnahagsráðherra ætti að gera ráðstafanir svo að tollfrjáls verslun væri boðin út á Akureyrarflugvelli. Tillagan var lögð fram vegna þess að Akureyrarflugvöllur er mikilvægur fyrir Norðausturlandi og gæti nýst betur með fleiri þjónustum fyrir ferðamenn. Einnig kom fram í alþjóðlegri skýrslu að íslensk flugfélög eru of dýr miðað við önnur félög í Evrópu, og tillagan myndi hjálpa til við að gera flugvöllinn samkeppnishæfari. Ef tillagan nærir fram að ganga myndu ferðamenn geta keypt vörur án tolla á Akureyri, sem gæti laðað fleiri fólk til að nota flugvöllinn og eflt atvinnulífið á norðlandi.
This parliamentary resolution proposes that the Minister of Finance and Economics should take steps to allow duty-free shop operations to be tendered at Akureyri Airport. The resolution was put forward because Akureyri Airport is important for the North and could serve visitors better with more services. An international report also showed that Icelandic airports are too expensive compared to other airports in Europe, and this proposal would help make the airport more competitive. If passed, travelers could buy goods without duties at Akureyri, which could attract more people to use the airport and boost the economy in the north.
