Þessi þingsályktunartillaga felur í sér að ríkið myndi bjóða eldri Íslendingum og öðrum fólki fjárhagslega hvata, svo sem skattfrelsi, ef það kennir innflytjendum íslensku og tekur þátt í samtalsverkefnum með þeim. Tillagan var lögð fram vegna þess að fjöldi erlendra innflytjenda hefur aukist hratt og stæðst nú yfir 18% af íbúum landsins, en mörg þeirra eiga erfiðleika með að læra íslensku og tjá sig. Með því að auka dagleg samtöl við Íslendinga myndu innflytjendur læra tungumálið betur, myndu fleiri geta farið til starfa og myndu betri tengsl myndast milli fólks frá mismunandi bakgrunni. Ef tillagan gengur yfir myndu eldri borgarar og aðrir Íslendingar fá hvata til þess að kenna og æta innflytjendum í samskiptum og væru fleiri tækifæri fyrir þá að læra raunveruleg íslenska.
This parliamentary resolution proposes that the government would offer financial incentives, such as tax breaks, to older Icelanders and others who teach immigrants Icelandic and participate in conversation projects with them. The resolution was put forward because the number of foreign immigrants has grown rapidly and now represents over 18% of the country's population, yet many of them struggle to learn Icelandic and communicate effectively. By increasing daily conversations with Icelanders, immigrants would learn the language better, more people could join the workforce, and stronger connections would form between people from different backgrounds. If the resolution passes, older citizens and other Icelanders would be motivated to teach and practice with immigrants, and there would be more opportunities for them to learn practical, real-world Icelandic.
