Þingmaður spyr dómsmálaráðherra um hlutfall erlendra fanga í íslenskum fangelsum í nóvember 2025. Af 158 föngum þann 1. nóvember höfðu 77 erlent ríkisfang, eða 48,7% af heildinum. Hlutfallið er hæst í gæsluvarðhaldi þar sem 61,4% höfðu erlent ríkisfang, en 41,6% meðal þeirra sem voru á afplánun. Fangelsismálastofnun heldur ekki utan um upplýsingar um tvöfalt ríkisfang eða fyrra ríkisfang fanga.
An MP asks the Minister of Justice about the proportion of foreign prisoners in Icelandic prisons in November 2025. Of 158 prisoners on 1 November, 77 held foreign citizenship — 48.7% of the total. The share is highest among pre-trial detainees, where 61.4% held foreign citizenship, compared to 41.6% among sentenced prisoners. The Prison and Probation Administration does not record dual citizenship or previously held foreign citizenship.
