Þessi þingsályktunartillaga felur í sér að Ríkisútvarpið ætti að hætta því að senda fréttir og menningarefni á öðrum tungumálum en íslensku, nema í sérstökum tilfellum vegna almannavarna. Tillagan var lögð fram vegna þess að Ríkisútvarpið á í fjárhagserfiðleikum með 160 milljón króna halla, og flutningsmenn telja að þessi breyting myndi spara pening og styrkja íslenska tungu. Þeir halda því fram að þörf sé ekki á þessari þjónustu vegna þess að einkafjölmiðlar bjóða nú þegar fréttir á erlendum málum og þýðingaforrit eru nógu góð. Ef tillagan nær fram að ganga myndu Ríkisútvarpið hætta útvarpi og efni á erlendum tungumálum, sem myndi spara stofnuninni peninga og senda skilaboð um að íslenska sé aðal samskiptamál samfélagsins.
